Key Features

Most affordable manual models available locally feature:

  • Rollers: 2 or 3 heavy-duty stainless steel rollers (3-roller versions extract more juice, often 60-80% yield).
  • Inlet/Feed Port: Large diameter (around 60-65mm / 2.5 inches) to accept whole or cut stalks.
  • Operation: Handwheel or crank handle for turning; some have adjustable roller spacing for better pressure.
  • Output: Around 50kg of sugarcane per hour (suitable for small-scale vending; not for high-volume crowds).
  • Build: Food-grade stainless steel body and rollers for hygiene and rust resistance; some have a juice collection tray with filter and a bagasse (leftover pulp) outlet.
  • Size/Portability: Compact countertop or stand-mounted design, easy to move (many weigh 20-50kg).
  • Extras: Some include knives for cutting cane or simple tools for adjustment. No motor — pure manual effort.

These machines are simple, durable, and low-maintenance compared to electric versions.

How to Use a Manual Sugarcane Juice Machine

  1. Prep the cane: Wash the stalks thoroughly. Cut them into shorter lengths (30-50cm or smaller) that fit the inlet easily. Peel if desired (though many machines handle unpeeled).
  2. Setup: Place the machine on a stable surface. Ensure rollers are clean and adjusted for good pressure (tighten if needed).
  3. Juice: Turn the handwheel/crank to start the rollers moving. Feed one or more cane pieces into the inlet (cut end first). The rollers crush the cane, extracting juice into the collection tray while dry pulp (bagasse) exits the other side.
  4. Repeat: Run the pulp through a second time for maximum extraction. Collect fresh juice and serve immediately (add ice, lime, ginger, etc., for flavor).
  5. After use: Clean all parts thoroughly with water (avoid harsh chemicals). Dry to prevent rust. Lubricate gears occasionally if specified in the manual.
